On Sunday 3rd September 2017, eighteen (18) music industry professionals graduated from the DianJen Media Company's, Music Industry Technical Camp 2017- a free, intensive six (6) week music management and production programme for persons 18-65 years. Now in its fourth year, the programme for which the company partnered with the Ministry of Community Development, Culture and Arts under its Technical Camps initiative, began on July 22nd and took place at the company's state of the art, Center for Music Industry at #27 Harmony Hall Road, Gasparillo.
The only programme of its kind in the Caribbean, focus is on delivering Global Industry standard music management and production training to upcoming Singers, Songwriters, Managers and Producers with a desire to pursue careers in the Music Industry. The Technical Camp comprised three modules: Managing Music Businesses in which participants covered: copyright law and the role of collective management organisations, digital music models, strategy and markets, music licensing and publishing and artist management among others. These sessions were facilitated by Mr. Farley J. Joseph, company Founder and Programme Director.
In addition to this, the second module was geared towards equipping producers with limited budgets with the skill set required to produce professional recordings in the home studio environment by supplementing their current knowledge with the relevant theory. It was facilitated by prominent producer Ato Williams and it entailed detailed explorations of: recording and production, mixing and mastering techniques; using industry standard applications including Logic Pro and Reason. The industry modules were supported by the third Module- Personal and Professional Development of Music Industry Executives- which comprised engaging sessions in business protocol and etiquette and Entrepreneurship for the Music Business Manager, conducted by Ms. Dianne Joseph. In addition to this, Ms. Adanna Asson conducted a session on Publicity in the Music Industry, where participants learnt the required components of a professional press kit and media relations.
The DianJen Media Company remains committed to providing cutting edge training for music industry professionals in Trinidad and Tobago. Among its upcoming programmes are: Rhythm and Chords- Keyboard, Drums, Guitar and Vocals Tuition, Sound Recording and Music Production, beginning on September 19th 2017 and Live Sound Engineering which starts on September 18th 2017. These programmes lead to the Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) certification, which is recognized throughout the Caribbean.
